Engine Taking A Long Time

Well, the engine was supposed to be done last week...  When I called down last Tuesday, they still hadn't received the cylinder heads so the build wasn't even started.  I took the carburetor down on Thursday and he assured me that my build is at the top of the list and that they should get the heads in this week.

When I was down at the shop, I noticed the differential was sitting in the same place I'd left it two and a half weeks ago.  Talked with the guy that was supposed to be working on it.  He hadn't started it because he looked up prices and the ratio charge alone was going to be $400.  Making the whole rebuild about $900.  He hadn't called me about the price and what to do because "he had gotten really busy".  I find it a little ridiculous that he couldn't have had a 5 minute conversation on the phone with me.  It's all straightened out now...  Since the differential isn't really a huge change power to go to 3.55, we're going to stay at 3.08.  So now the differential is going to be completely rebuilt (seals, clutch pack, etc.), keeping the same gears unless they're not good (they seemed OK when I looked at them, but we'll see).  The ratio isn't terrible off the line and it should give me better highway gas mileage.

Oh, and I haven't gotten any more work done on the car in a few weeks.  Been doing house/yard chores that I've been neglecting (like fixing up the lawn mower and re-staining my deck).  Now that I've got that stuff done, I should be able to get back to working on the car a bit.
